Artfire Competition - Part VII

I know I am blogging late today, but I had an awfully long day at school. Today I didn't feel like a teacher, I felt like a 70-year-old lady on a promotion tour who wasn't allowed to leave the room before she bought something...
We had a special training day where we wanted to hear something about heterogeneous classes and how to deal with them. But what we got were 2 long presentations about programs that will deal with heterogeneous students after we booked them for our next training day(s). But what it really was, or at least how we felt about these presentations, was that we will learn more about cooperation between teachers and using different methods. But the methods they presented us are the ones we're using anyway...
So, most of the collegues were pretty unsatisfied about the whole day and it felt like wasted time. And it was so exhausting to listen all day that I fell asleep on the sofa for 2 hours as soon as I was at home.

Therefore today's blog for the Artfire competition is a little late. Nevertheless I discovered a very cute gift last night while I was just randomly flipping through the pages looking at stuff before it was time to go to bed.

I discovered this very cute charm. It would be the perfect gift for my godchild. She loves everything girly, especially everything pink and everything Hello Kitty related. The awesome blue, silver and pink would match every pink Hello Kitty shirt she has. You can find it right here: http://www.artfire.com/modules.php?name=Shop&op=listing&product_id=2529991

I wish they would ship to Europe and not just within the US, then I would get it for my godchild immediately!

Angel Princess Jewelry Sets

I've been working some more on Christmas gifts over the weekend and here are the results: 3 Angel Princess Jewelry sets, consiting of a necklace, a matching bracelet, and matching earrings. So far I have purple, gold, and blurple (a mixture of blue and purple) finished.
I will make some more to put on Artfire and Etsy. I think I will offer them as set. Those who want to purchase the items seperately can message me and I can add a seperate listing for them.
Hope you enjoy them!

Our first propper snow day!

I just have to share this with you. We're having our first propper snow day here. So far there are about 6cm of snow outside and it hasn't stopped snowing yet. :D

I used the opportunity to take my dog out for some snow fun. He loves snow and is always totally excited about hopping through the snow like a little bunny. I took some pictures to share with you and my American friends who are living in the deep south where they don't have snow. :D

Artfire Competition - Part VI

Today's gift idea is really useful at the moment. We have our first propper snow day here. So far there are about 6cm of snow outside and it is still snowing. To keep your head and ears warm, you shouldn't go out without a hat. I found this cute kitty hat on artfire: http://www.artfire.com/modules.php?name=Shop&op=listing&product_id=1082058

And it's the perfect match for my little dog. He's having so much fun in the snow that his ears are flying through the air. With that hat we could look like twins!

Oh, and check out this artisan's other items. They have a very cute version for babies, too!

Artfire Competition - Part IV

I cannot imagine not to use my laptop for just a day. I need to check my emails at least once a day, I want to stay updated with what my friends are doing on facebook and plurk, I need to chat with my boyfriend, and I am doing all my lesson plans on my computer.
Therefore I think the perfect Christmas gift would be a stylish laptop bag to take my beloved electronic device with me. I got totally excited about this bag when I was looking through all the amazing handcrafted items on Artfire. I love the fabric and the pattern of this bag. It is a bit too small for my laptop (I have a really big and heavy one!), but maybe it is time to get a notepad that I can use when I am not at home.

If you want to get this bag for me, here's the link! http://www.artfire.com/modules.php?name=Shop&op=listing&product_id=1444481

Little Princess Necklaces

My mother asked if I could make a necklace that she could give away as a gift. So I looked through my charms collection and picked a few that I think would go together nicely. I was making angels anyway, so I combined them all and the result are the following two necklaces.
They are perfect for every little princess. A crown with a sparkling crystal, sparkling angels, and the key to their dreams.
I think my favourite one is the blue one, because I love blue! :D

More Angel Earrings

I finally got a small package that I've been waiting for for the past 2 weeks. I ordered some differently styled wings and little crystal flowers and finally I can turn them into angel earrings with broad floating skirts.

As well as with the other earrings my mother will get the first choice for her gifts. All pairs she doesn't need will be put on Artfire this weekend.

Artfire Competition - Part III

It finally started to snow and the landscape is slowly covered in a thin white layer of snowflakes. I love snow so much that for today's item for the artfire competition I chose something related to snow.

I love the tiny silver leaves. From the distance these earrings look like snowflakes. The perfect gift for everyone who loves snow.

Artfire Competition - Part I

Artfire has a very interesting competition going on, with some awesome prizes! You can win a Camera, a Kindle, or a Desktop Photo Studio, all you have to do is tweet or blog about other artisans' items that you think would make a great Christmas gift and then post the link to your tweet/blog on facebook.
All details for this competition can be found here: http://www.artfire.com/modules.php?name=forums&op=view_topic&tid=20205

Therefore, don't be surprised when I am blogging more than usual and about other artisans' items. I could really need a new camera, as my flashlight refuses to work properly. A Kindle would be cool, too, because I would never buy one myself, and who doesn't need a Photo Studio to make your pictures look better.

So, here is my first item that I think would make a great gift: http://www.artfire.com/modules.php?name=Shop&op=listing&product_id=2452891

I know Nutcrackers since my early childhood. We still have those nutcrackers. My parents had them even before I was born, so they must be over 30 years old by now. And this tree make the nutcrackers used to something very special.
Next item will follow tomorrow!

Something for Christmas

I had a really good evening yesterday. I watched one of my favourite childhood movies: Mrs Doubtfire. I just love Robin Williams.
And while watching I worked on some cute angel earrings for Christmas. I cannot put them on Artfire just yet, because my mother needs some gifts for the students she's tutoring. She now has to examine the ears of the girls to see who wears earrings and who doesn't.
All the earrings she doesn't need (and the ones I am planning to make) will be on Artfire soon (hopefully at the weekend).
I will keep you updated. In the meantime, please let me know what you think about them and comment below. :)

Wear Autumn!

I had this idea for quite a while, I just needed time to hunt for material. I am still not quite sure if it is finished, yet, or if there's more that I can add to it. I appreciate your thoughts, therefore please comments below. :)

For this hair band I used various coloured cloth leaves, paper flowers, beads and findings. While it is quite dark outside today I hope you can still enjoy the colour of the leaves in their full beauty.

Victorian Collar

Shortly after Halloween I odered some nice skull Cameos, because I had some rough ideas about what I could use them for. One of them was a modern, but still Victorian styled collar. And here it is.

I like how the bow and the beads add some additional elegance to the Cameo. And when you now think "Hey, doesn't this collar look like a dog's collar?", then I can tell you: Yes, you're right. I got the idea from someone I know on Plurk. She wanted to have a leather collar with spikes for a themed party, and used a dog collar instead. And it suited her well.
Now, when I was shopping for a new collar for my dog, I discovered the ones with the little crystals. They offered them in white, pink, and black. My dog is male, so the pink one was out of the question and as he is black, I got him the white collar. And then I thought "Hey, why don't you use the black one and give your idea a try?". So I got the black one for myself to turn it into a nice Halloweenish accessory. I have to admit, the leather is quite comfortable, but it is still a little tight when you try to eat or drink something. I'll wear it next Halloween along with my skull hair accessory.
What do you think? Should I explore the idea of using dog collars more, or is it a funny one time idea? Please comment. :)

Time for pictures!

We had some really bad weather the past few days, so it was quite dark inside the house. The lamps caused some odd light on my accessories, so I had to wait until the sun came out again, which happened this morning!
Therefore I can now finally show off my new accessories.
So, first of all my laced cuffs as well as a Halloweenish or Gothicish skull hair accessory.

While I was watching TV last night I felt a little Christmassy, probably because I cannot wait to see my boyfriend again. So I grabbed my pearls and beads and cloth and made some Christmas accessories.

The earrings will be up on Etsy and Artfire this evening. I'd love to put the hair band up there, too, but I have no clue how to keep shipping costs low and still ship it safely, so for now I'll keep the band at home. If you have an idea of how to ship it without breaking it, feel free to comment to this post. :)
